FCPS Boundary Review Update - Next Meeting 10/27

FCPS' Comprehensive Boundary Review has generated two new proposals, both of which affect school assignments for the SSTA community.

Under the first proposal (Scenario 3), students in the SSTA community would attend Cardinal Forest Elementary School, Irving Middle School, and West Springfield High School.  Under the second proposal (Scenario 4), students in the SSTA community would attend White Oaks Elementary School and Lake Braddock Secondary School.

FCPS is soliciting feedback on the proposals, and in particular Scenario 4, through upcoming community meetings.  The meeting for the Lake Braddock and West Springfield pyramids is scheduled for Monday, October 27th from 6:30-8pm at Irving Middle School (in-person and virtual).

FCPS School Boundary Review - Proposed Change for SSTA Community

The Fairfax County School Board is currently considering several proposals to change FCPS school boundaries.

The proposals under consideration would directly impact the families of Shannon Station by reassigning our neighborhood from the Keene Mill Elementary School—Washington Irving Middle School—West Springfield High School pyramid to other pyramids that include a combination of different schools, such as Cardinal Forest Elementary School (Kindergarten through 6th grade) or White Oaks Elementary School (Kindergarten through 6th grade) and Lake Braddock Secondary School (7th through 12 grades).

More information about the current FCPS proposals is available here

The School Board is hosting a community meeting on Monday, September 29th at 6:30-8pm at Lake Braddock Secondary School (9200 Burke Lake Rd, Burke, VA 22015) to discuss the proposals.  There is also a virtual option to attend.
